Lukas's Adventures to Casey's

 Hey guys. Unfortunately I did not make it to a Casey's this week. I was pretty busy this past week and did not have a day where I had sufficient daylight to bike for an extended period. I do have a photo of a Casey's we drove by on our way to Cerro Gordo for a basketball game. Below is the picture.     I hope I will get the opportunity to visit a Casey's this week. If I do, I promise it will be good.

      In this blog I will be describing my travels to Sidney. This is a bike ride I have done several times before. It is a comfortable route without a large amount of cars. Additionally, the weather was in my favor so I did not face strong winds. It was high 30s with a 10 mph wind from the southwest. Below is the route I took, as well as me in the garage as always right before leaving.          Because my face and neck got cold last time, I decided to wear a ski mask on this trip. In addition, I wore a hoodie, a rain jacket, gloves, and some warmer shoes. In comparison to last trip, I was much warmer overall.      Once I had everything ready, I started my ride as usual and went south on race street. The beginning always feels really good.       Hello adventurers. I have returned for another blog post. In this episode I will be telling you about my travels to the Casey's General Store in Philo, IL. I did this trip on Wednesday 11/16 right after school. I did this quickly, because I still had quite a bit of homework and chores to do. Below is the route I decided to take. Traveling to Philo from Urbana by bike is not optimal. Both of the roads from the northwest are highly trafficked highways.     The first step to going on this journey was putting on the right attire. On this day I wore a hat under my helmet for the first time, a coat, a pair of jeans, and some running shoes. I needed to stay warm because it was around the freezing point of water.      Second trip! This was much more of a trip than the previous outing. This time I traveled to the Casey's in Fairmount, which in fact is located in Vermillion county. This will likely be the only trip to another county. During this trip I also added a new piece of technology, my running watch, which will show you exactly where I rode and my pace. Below is the route I decided to take.     Again, the first step to a biking journey is the application of a helmet as depicted below.     As I left, I felt pretty good. It about 55 degrees and sunny. I was wearing shorts and a light hoodie. I felt a bit cold at the beginning, but soon warmed up. As soon as I got out of town though, I began to cool down again. I was facing a 17mph headwind from the east which made the front side of my body quite frigid. Occasionally, I would have to take a turn to go south as part of the route, which made the ride much more fun. I no longer had to fight against the wind...

      Hello readers. In this post I will be discussing my trip to the Urbana Casey's on 10/24. This will be the easiest of all my journeys because Urbana is the town in which I reside. Below is the route I took.     The weather was splendid. A comfortable 72 degrees F on a Monday afternoon. I opened the garage door and rolled out my bike into the beaming sun. Next, put on a helmet to protect my head in the case of a collision. Below is an image of me wearing my helmet in my garage prior to leaving.     After getting everything ready, I pull out of my driveway and begin my journey. The first thing I notice is that it feels good to be outside. Up to this point I had stayed inside all day working on homework and college applications. I also feel especially free because I usually bike with a backpack and a heavy lock. Today I am much lighter, meaning that I can accelerate faster and maneuver easier.     Welcome to my blog. I have decided that my goal over these four fortnights is to travel to a different Casey's General Store every week by bicycle. I will discuss the route, time taken, riding experience, and any other interesting observations I have on my journey.     One reason I landed on this topic is because I think it will be fun. I enjoy biking and I have not visited all of the Casey's General Stores near me. It is also good for my health, as this is a good fitness activity. Maybe I will also encourage people to bike more, which is good for the environment. That's all I have to say. Below is a map of all of the stores I plan to visit. This map may change. If I am feeling particularly adventurous I may travel to a far out Casey's and camp a night, and then bike back the next day. We will see. If I receive any interesting suggestions in the comments, I will also consider them.
